| Description: | As a two year survivor of breast cancer, I was seeking a way to use my time and talents to help join the fight against breast cancer. I believe I owe that to my sisters in survival, and to my two daughters. I have always ridden horses, and I continued to ride through chemo (hardhat on a sweaty bald head, yuck!). As horse people, we all know the physical and spiritual healing powers of a horse. Not only did riding help me stay strong physically, the hours I spent riding, grooming, and grazing horses were hours I didnt think about what was happening. I prayed for inspiration on how I could best contribute to this war we all wage, and the answer finally, was to find a way to do it with horses. Its an activity I love, and it has a certain poetic reason to it--horses are healers, they are strong, and they are our partners as we overcome lifes hurdles. We established Equestrians For Life, Inc. in order to become an official charity. We are a charitable non-profit whose mission is to find a cure for breast cancer by raising funds to support quality, innovative breast cancer research initiatives; and to provide access to treatment for the uninsured. We raise funds through equestrian sporting events, charitable donations, and in-kind donations. Currently, we support innovative breast cancer treatment research, as well as The Bridge Breast Network. You can learn more about our beneficiaries by clicking on the links below. | |
