| Description: | The annual Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce FunFest will be held June 8-9 this year, as we kick off the official celebration of summer. There will be something for everyone Arts and Crafts, Food, Entertainment, Dance, Run By The Bay Fun Run, BBQ Cook-off, Children's Activities and more. Texas City and La Marque will be packed with plenty of activity and fun with the impending arrival of Funfest. For the past 23 years Funfest, (the Chambers official celebration of summer), has grown into a very popular community event highlighting events and recreational activities enjoyed in our communities. The Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce Annual Funfest will be held June 8-9 at Carlos Garza Sports Complex, Texas City. There will be something for everyone Arts & Crafts, Food, BBQ Cook-off, Car Cruisin, Childrens Activities, Entertainment, Run By The Bay 5k and 10k Run and Kids K! One of the largest of the events is the BBQ Cook- Off which averages more100 teams. Teams compete for cash prizes in brisket, pork ribs, chicken, beef fajitas and beans. The BBQ Cook-Off brings out the largest crowds because companies use it as a kind of corporate outing. They set up tents and tables and host private parties for their employees and clients. Calling all Runners! On Your Mark, Get Set, Go. to the Funfest Run By The Bay 5k & 10k Run and Kids k Pelican Run. It will be held Saturday, June 9 beginning at 7:30 a.m. at Bay Street Park, near the Texas City Dike. The runs are certified/sanctioned events. This is a scenic run through Bay Street Park and along the waters of the Gulf. Feel the cool gulf breeze, watch the pelicans fly along the waters edge and enjoy the scenery along the way. The first 250 participants are guaranteed a T-shirt with their entry. There will be lots of arts, crafts, various gift items and more at the Arts and Crafts booths. Over 30 booths to browse through Its a relaxing and fun way to shop till you drop! Come check out the amazing antique, classic and hot rod cars, trucks and motorcycles at the Cruise In on Saturday evening. Bring your vehicles to display from 3-7 p.m. at Carlos Garza Sports Complex. Food, fun, games and amusements rides will be available for all ages to enjoy. Funfest has many childrens activities such as a train ride, moon walks, face painting, mechanical bull, rock wall and more. Join us for an unforgettable weekend of FUN . June 8-9.
