Bosque Art Classic

The Bosque Art Classic is an annual judged & juried art show & sale hosted by the BAC Art Council. Over the years, it has become a national show which includes entries from international artists as well. The show is currently in its 29th year. It is open to all artists who create realistic/representational art. Categories include: Drawing, Oil/Acrylic, Pastel, Sculpture, & Water Media. 1st & 2nd place awards are given to pieces in each category. Additional awards include the Art Council Purchase Award ($1,000 in addition to the sale price), 1st Time Entrant Award ($1,000), the Boren-Selvidge Award ($1,000), and the coveted John Steven Jones Purchase Award ($5,000 not in addition to the sale price).

Artists receive a prospectus for the Art Classic in February. It is also published online around that time. Deadline to enter the contest is in May. Digital images only are accepted initially (either online or on CD by mail.) Acceptance letters generally go out mid-July. Artwork is received in late August for the judge to view the works and judge in person. Awards are handed out at the opening reception held in September each year.

Past winners of the John Steven Jones Purchase Award include: Mikel Donahue, William Schneider, Jeff Segler, Don Weller, Romel de la Torre, Xiang Zhang, & many others. Last year's show, judged by Bill Nebeker, closed with almost 700 entries.

Artwork for the 29th Annual Bosque Art Classic will be displayed from September 13-27. The show is hosted by the Art Council. An opening reception will be held on Saturday, September 13. Reservations are required to attend this event.
