The Annual Fall Bazaar is coming once again on Saturday, October 25, to Allens First United Methodist Church as it has for the past 24 years. The United Methodist Women, UMW, have sponsored this event since the early 1980s. In the beginning years, all items were handcrafted by ladies of the church. Over time, the bazaar has expanded their fundraiser to include selling booth space to outside vendors.

Over seventy vendors will be set up throughout the church. They will be selling handmade and commercially produced merchandise. Available will be baby items and other gifts, jewelry, aromatic candles and other home dcor including Christmas novelties. Vendors also offer embellished clothing. birdhouses, fresh pecans, makeup, bath and body products, hand-crafted pens, ceramics, floral arrangements, stuffed bears and hand-carved boxes. Also available will be the annual Bake Sale of homemade cookies, pies and cakes ready for the holidays. Adjoining the Bake Sale will be the Ruth Circle Craft Sale featuring handmade items made by the circle and church members.

Approximately 400 shoppers visited last years bazaar, with many being repeat shoppers from previous years. The bazaar is a great place to get started with Christmas shopping too. With many unique gifts, shoppers can get a head start or even complete their holiday shopping in one afternoon. Many of the bazaar vendors return each year and have built a clientele of shoppers who look for their booth and merchandise every year.

UMW is strictly a mission-oriented group of the church. All proceeds from the bazaar go to several charitable organizations, primarily involved in serving women and children. The five leading recipients are Allen Community Outreach, Samaritan Inn for the homeless, Hopes Door for victims of abuse, Send Hope, and the Childrens Advocacy Center.

The bazaar will be 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 601 S. Greenville in Allen.
