Join the city of Waxahachie for a flower-filled 4th of July celebration with crape myrtles in full bloom during the 21st Annual Crape Myrtle Festival and Parade.

Schedule of Events

Monday, July 3 Activities:

The patriotic celebration will begin on Monday, July 3, at 5 p.m. with the InterBank Tailgate Party at the Waxahachie Sports Complex located at 151 Broadhead Rd. Madness Entertainment will entertain the crowd before the concert and teach moves to some of the newest dance craze songs.

This year, guests will enjoy a concert sponsored by Carlisle Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac. Following the concert will be the spectacular H-E-B fireworks display at 9 p.m.

A new addition to the festival is The Kid Zone sponsored by Baylor Scott & White Medical Center Waxahachie with FREE activities for the children to enjoy. There will also be a variety of food vendors for families to purchase from in the Food Court including a few new selections.

Spectators are encouraged to tune their radio to KBEC 1390 during the fireworks show for a special broadcast of patriotic music. Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are allowed at the Waxahachie Sports Complex; however, personal fireworks are prohibited.



Tuesday, July 4 Activities:

On July 4, the celebration will continue at 10 a.m. with a hometown parade sponsored by CNB of Texas. The 4th of July parade will start at College Street, head west on Main Street and end in Getzendaner Park.

After the parade, Remedy Church will host a Picnic in the Park in Getzendaner Park for families along with free hotdogs, water, snow cones, old fashioned games and bounce house. There will also be a "Wiffle Ball Home Run Derby" during the picnic.

In 1997, the Texas State Legislature designated Waxahachie as the "Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas." Each summer, the city's historic streets are lined with hundreds of beautiful crape myrtles in full bloom.

The Crape Myrtle Festival and Parade are FREE to the public. Other sponsors include the Crape Myrtle Council, the Waxahachie Chamber of Commerce and the City of Waxahachie.

Location: Waxahachie is a suburb of DFW located 30 miles south of Dallas and 40 miles east of Fort Worth at the intersection of I-35E and Highway 287.
