The award-winning Denton Redbud Festival is Dentons Official Arbor Day celebration promoting community beautification and Denton pride since 1994. The Denton Redbud Festival features dozens of vendors with tree and plant sales, gardening supplies, household items and local/handmade products, along with family-friendly activities and live, local music. The Redbud Festival traces its roots back to an annual Texas Womans University Festival that was held from the 1930s until 1981 to celebrate the schools beautification and tree planting efforts. In 1994, Keep Denton Beautiful gave the festival new life in honor of Dentons designation as the Redbud Capital of Texas. Denton Redbud Festival wins Outstanding Arbor Day Award
